New module available now: Breathing and Relaxation

My Possible Self – the mental health app – has added yet another module to its selection: Breathing and Relaxation. This module contains bite-size exercises that help you wind down and de-stress.

Learn simple breathing and relaxation techniques

When we feel stressed or anxious, our breathing changes and our muscles tense as part of the ‘fight or flight’ response. Breathing calmly, and releasing the muscles, can help reverse this response. This module looks at how our bodies react to stress, and how we can manage those reactions using simple techniques. These include breathing, muscle relaxation and visualisation techniques. The module is suitable for everyone, especially those who are feeling the effects of stress or worry.

How does it work?

Relaxation allows the body to rest and restore, so we are more able to cope with our daily stresses. It’s important to build relaxation into our busy lives, and especially if we are feeling stressed, anxious or depressed. Regular practice is important to gain the maximum benefit.

Each week for three weeks, you’ll do a new activity. At the end of the module, you will have learnt new stress-management skills that you can apply in future, as and when you need to.
